2. The Czech Republic is situated in the centre of Europe and it is sometimes called the heart of Europe.

7. Other important rivers are the Labe, Jizera, and Odra.
8. Our republic lies in the temperate climate zone.
9. The most important part of our economy is engineering.
10. Other important branches are metallurgical and chemical industries and tourism.
11. Textile and glass industries have a long tradition.
12. The Czech Republic is a democratic state.
13. The political power is divided into three branches – the legislative, represented by the Parliament, the executive, represented by the president and the government, and the judicial, represented by courts.
