12. Leisure time and hobbies; Life of young people

Hobbies are activities which we do in our spare time. They are very important, because they lead us to be more responsible and hardworking. Hobbies teach us to play fair not only in  sports and games, but also in a real life, because we have to keep the rules.
If our job is our hobby, it is a very good situation, because we like the job and we want to improve ourselves, which is good not only for us, but also for our company.

Typical men’s hobbies: sports, collecting stamps, watching fotball and ice-hockey, motorbikes, cars, computers, Internet ...

Typical women’s hobbies: knitting, sawing, cooking, going to galleries, theatres, ...

Nowadays, men and women often have the same or similar hobbies.

Collecting hobbies
We can collect a lot of kinds of things – people usually collect stamps and postcards.
Some people collect unusual things, e.g. old cars or motorbikes, airplane models etc.

If you want to collect something, you need:
- money
- contacts to other collectors, because you can change things with them
- time – because it could take you a lot of time
- information – you need lots of information about things you want to collect

Art hobbies
Going to the theatre, concerts, opera performances
Play a musical instrument, painting, taking photos

For playing an instrument, you need to be talented and prepared to practise hard.
Music or painting are good relaxing activities. They can also remove your stress.

Sports, games
Everybody should do some kind of a sports activity – sport is healthy and keeps us fit

Family hobbies
For example - travelling, gardening, watching TV, camping, mushrooming.

My own hobbies
I like doing sports. I play football, volleyball, tennis and basketball. I like florball very much. I also like music and going to the cinema. And one of my biggest hobbies are computers and Internet.
